Dyeing! Long walk!
Aug. 5th, 2022 10:28 pmToday wasn't super productive in terms of little things, because Joel and I went on a walk to the store we really like on the other side of the hill. It took us about 3 hours to get there. By the time we got home (via bus and then more walking), it was about five hours total. I think my hiking poles helped a lot. I haven't walked this many steps in a while, and my legs were less of a problem during the walk than previously. Eventually, my feet and arms started to get sore, but I still did really well. I totally intend to continue using the hiking poles. It is interesting to find that at the end of a long walk it is my arms that are the most tired (I push myself up hills and support a lot of weight with my arms). However, I was kind of dizzy and dopey for most of the walk, likely because my body doesn't store and retrieve glucose properly. I wonder if I can do something like drink watered down juice on a walk to provide a constant source of glucose for my brain without consuming a lot of calories or overdoing it with the carbs and making myself sick.
While at the mall on the other side of the hill, we got pins. Yay!! Now, we can finally do some sewing. Also, I filled up my transit card, so I can go into town to buy my split peas next week. Yay!! The walk was also a good start to actually going out of the house and using public transit again. Tomorrow, we'll try going to the farmer's market nearby. If they are open, I should be able to get something, probably, for dinner, since I have eaten all of the Portuguese cabbage that I ordered last week. I'm glad it is just some leafy green that I need rather than something hard to find (like split peas).
Also, the duvet and bottom sheet turned out very nicely. They are still drying, but I'll try to post photos tomorrow.
