Minimal progress
Apr. 6th, 2022 09:42 pmWe have gotten two copies of the proposed lease for the apartment but haven't signed it. However, I'm guessing that we will tomorrow. Then, we'll hopefully be able to get utilities set up before we have to leave this apartment on Sunday. That's the housing progress.
In other news, we were able to get some small appliances that should be useful in our apartment but were unable to find a decent duvet. While I'd like to get everything else second hand, I'd prefer that my linens weren't. The good news is that I finally found out that the type of test strips that I use to test my blood sugar aren't available in Portugal, so I got a new glucometer (they are cheap) and some test strips. Hopefully, this one will be accurate. The last time I got a new one, it was terrible, but this one is made by the same company that made the good one that I used.
In other good news, we have plans to speak this weekend to our immigration consultant, so hopefully, we'll be able to get a timeline organized soon. I like having a plan at least as much as I like having a schedule.
I read this article on The Moscow Times website. It does a very good job of conveying how I feel about leaving Russia, although obviously the writer spent much more time there than I did.
