Cowboys and Vaccines
Sep. 29th, 2025 01:58 pmIt is always interesting to read old cowboy novels. It is funny that this is supposed to be the model for what conservative men want to go back to, but it is pretty clear that they have never read any of those books.
I was pretty freaked out yesterday about the video appointment for the doctor tomorrow. However, I took some additional calcium last night and calmed down. Phew!
Today, I went through our vaccine information and figured out which vaccines we need to get updated. I'm surprised that there aren't more. We just need the tetanus/diphtheria booster and the flu shot. Of course, we want covid shots, but I don't know if they are available here. And now that I'm over 50, I should get the pneumonia vaccine (which actually is for a lot more than pneumonia and which you only have to get once) and the shingles vaccine. The shingles vaccine is notoriously unpleasant, but it sounds like you might just feel a bit gross for a few days, as opposed to something worse. I figure that I can schedule a few days of resting after the shot and be mostly okay. At least, I hope. There are two shots, but for now, that is also all you need for the rest of your life. It doesn't last super long, though. Like 5-7 years, maybe. So, that recommendation might change. Still, I do not want shingles, so I'll do whatever I can to avoid it.
