Over the years, I've accumulated a huge list of books to read. Many won awards. The problem is that I don't like lots of books, especially the ones that win awards (although I just finished one that won a Pulitzer, and it was so wonderful and worth reading: The Night Watchman). Today, I started to weed my To Read list (which I now keep on The StoryGraph rather than Goodreads). I have trained an AI on what I like, and it does well. So, I got rid of 100 or so books from my list that were just absolutely not things I would enjoy. I don't like slow, miserable slogs or books with lots of drugs or tons of human misery. So yeah. I feel lighter without having all these books that I've been nervously eyeing for years off my list. I think I'll continue and see what else I can get rid of. (Like "A Farewell to Arms", which the AI said was "considered one of the most depressing war novels ever written".)
