The weeds in our yard are terrible. This is always true of all of my gardens. I never have enough time or energy to do a lot of gardening. However, most of what is in our garden is dead grass and weeds from the spring, which I was uncertain about pulling out. The other things we have are these spikey weeds that are clearly in the potato family. They are everywhere.
Yesterday, I went to take out the compost and found that I almost couldn't get there, because of all the weeds, especially the super tall potatoey ones. (I tried to figure out which nightshade plant it was, but forget it. There are a billion.) The biggest problem with weeding is that I need to take the weeds to the dumpster after I pull them. I really quickly run out of energy doing that, especially since I can't take a lot at a time with my little bucket. A few days ago, I came up with the idea of putting the weeds on our dropcloth and then hauling them up in one trip. Today, I tried it out, but with the twist that I asked Joel to do the hauling. That was a huge improvement. I was able to get the path to the compost pile cleaned out enough so that we can reach it. Thank goodness! I have other stuff for the next two days, so I doubt I'll be able to do any more weeding right away, but now I have a plan. Also, my foot was okay after all the weeding. Phew!
