Mostly receipts
Jun. 6th, 2024 07:20 pmIn Portugal, you have a tax id number that you give to all the people at stores to put on your receipts. Last Saturday, at the writers group, we talked a bit about how you can deduct certain expenses. Today, as I went through all the receipts for cash transactions that have been piling up over the last six months and put them in the budget, I realized that I haven't been saving a lot of the receipts that I should have saved, like for medical expenses. I asked my friends and found that the government has a special website that records all this stuff for you and shows what deductions you can take. If it isn't sure about the vendor, though, you have to go through the receipts and tell it what category they are from. We probably will miss out on some deductions on last year's taxes, because we didn't know about this and you can only set the categories within the current financial year, I guess. However, I'll keep on top of it for this year, at least.
