Patching walls
Sep. 25th, 2025 05:22 pmThe material that the contractors used to patch the walls upstairs was coming off, so I knew that I needed to remove it before I could paint the walls upstairs. Geez! One of those cracks was deep! But, which such thick walls it is more or less okay. So, I filled them with lime mortar and put some on the area under the step up to the kitchen that I'm slowly building up to be flat. I also covered the section that has that terrible sandy material (terrible concrete? something else?) that just falls apart when you touch it. Like the wall by my desk, it might end up just being a cosmetic layer over the crappy material under it, but it keep the wall from dropping dust and rubble all over the floor.
Anyway, that's done for now, so we just need to wait a week for it to cure before I paint it.
Joel is cutting the thin plywood we'll use for the armoire with the tiny Japanese saw. That funny little saw was so cheap, and yet it does such a great job. (It is a pull saw about 8-10 inches long with cutting teeth on both edges.) Of course, this is super thin plywood, but that usually just gives a sew a chance to chew it up more. Anyway, the plywood is fitting perfectly into the grooves that Joel cut with the router. Yay! As much as I think it would be cool to be doing more of the woodworking, Joel is so much more precise than I am that I know my work would be nowhere near as good. So, I'll do the painting instead. :)
