Shirts!!!

I finally got two of the shirts I've been working on (slowly) for a while sewn up. Yay!! Next, I have to work on my new satchel. They take forever to make, but my old one is really starting to fall apart in parts. The next one will be more simple and a bit larger. I made the current one big enough to fit a sheet of paper, but honestly, once you sew everything down, it isn't actually big enough for that. So, yeah, bigger. And I've decided that once I finish the cord for my sewing sack, I'm probably hang it on the outside of my satchel, since there isn't much room at all inside right now.

I don't know if I've mentioned that I have a new plan for shirts. I love having all kinds of fun shirts with neat stuff on them, but I also have found that a lot of the cool decorations are kind of lost under my bag and vest or jacket. And they might take a whole lot of work, which doesn't last terribly long. So, I'm thinking instead of just making a series of astronomy-based shirts with a constellation with the stars embroidered with names and correct relative sizes and colors on black, blue, or purple shirts, and nature-themed shirts with leaves (or birds, fish, whatever) appliqued with some minimal embroidery on dark brown, dark green, or navy blue shirts. (The shirt colors for nature themes will need to be discussed with Joel, as I don't really know what looks good on me.) Those won't take a million years, will be interesting and educational for me, and will give me a never-ending set of similar-looking shirts that I can make.

There are a few shirts that are getting close to retirement age, so I'll need to think about this, but I'd also really like to make the satchel and another vest before fall. I'm making a lot more progress on the embroidery for my Mass Effect shirt, which was looking like it would take forever. So, I'm really happy about that.
