Moving Right Along
Aug. 19th, 2022 10:35 pmThe cardboard computer hutch is coming along nicely. I've already got all the vertical separators in, so next is stabilizing those and smoothing out the places where they are joined a bit more with glue and paper and then putting in the shelves.
Joel's out of town show went quite well, which is obviously awesome.
My pretty much random playlist came up with the Dixie Chicks' version of Fleetwood Mac's "Landslide" during this afternoon's walk. I think I pretty much always get emotional over the part where she sings, "I've been afraid of changing, because I built my life around you." I don't think I've felt that way in a relationship, but it is easy to empathize with. I decided to put it into the more emotional of the long romance stories that I'm writing (the thought, anyway). I decided where I could use it, which made me think about the characters more, which made me think about some dialogue that they will have. That brought up some ideas from a book I recently read ("Look to Windward" by Iain M. Banks, which is wonderful and powerful and moving), which made me even more emotional. So, there I was in the kitchen crying over a book and a song while vacuuming. I think that the whole thing will improve the story quite a bit. It also fits well with other changes I've been making. Why yes, this is totally trashy fanfic that I've written 110,000 words of that I'm pouring my heart into. :P
I also managed to fix a few problems on my webpages from the PHP upgrade.
So, progress is being made, but not so much that I think it will totally wear me out. Now, it is time for meditation.
