Immigration Test and Teeth
Sep. 13th, 2018 06:05 pmThings are going well with our preparations to get permanent residency. The next hurdle is the language test. I took a practice test online and did well enough on all the sections, except for the laws part. The stuff on the test wasn't in the study materials we found. So, I'll have to see if I can find some better study materials. There are still some bits that I could do better on. I'm shy, so I expect the speaking part will be hard. However, I'll deal with it. I need to go over the written part, so that I am confident with how to address the header of a letter too. The test will be in a week. I can't wait to be done with that.
However, before that happens (tomorrow), I'm going to get my Malaysian tooth ground down again. Hopefully, this time, it will be enough that it stops hurting. It is painful at the moment. I don't chew on that side, but my other molars catch on it, since it is so much longer than the others. I can't wait until this is done.
There's a lot of little things that I need to work on, but mostly everything is going along just fine. This is the longest I've been stable in a while. I think. Once the tooth and the test are done, I think I'll have most of my stressors out of the way for at least a few weeks. We'll need to go through the application process for permanent residency, and I expect that will be fairly stressful (although maybe not as bad as with temporary residency, since we have a lawyer who actually helps us this time, also my anxiety is a little better right now). We also need to finally get things set up to transfer cash to our bank accounts here, since we lose a fair amount of money on transaction fees. In the end, both residency and banking need to be dealt with and will make life more pleasant, so spending some effort isn't so bad.
