This morning, I went to the bank and finished the paperwork to get my new debit card. It was funny: the employee who we chatted with (at length) on Friday recognized me, called my name, and had me sign my paperwork, saving me at least 20 minutes of waiting. Yay!

I also managed to finish up the dragon scales. I think they might look better in this photo than they do in real life, but they do look pretty good.

In other news, I found this video, which does a good job showing how to create a forest scene. This taught me that I should look at every object and give it highlights and shadows (at least, for ones that are large enough to do so). Since I know nothing about painting, this is really helpful. The leaves here are a combination of little dots and individual painted leaves. I think I expected the artist to use one or the other, but of course, doing both makes it look more realistic.

Tomorrow, I think I'll put the varnish on the starscape inside the box and test out my plan for the upholstery. As I was doing my calculations today, I kept forgetting things (like that I would need to cover both sides of the cushion, etc). I think I'll put in pins where I intend to cut and then wrap the fabric around the foam to see if it looks like it will work. I'm going to have to tear out a seam or two also (since these were remnants that seem to have been sewn into curtains), so I don't think I'll get any actual cutting done tomorrow. I'm planning on trying to go to the gaming night, as well. We'll see how that goes.
