NYE FTW

Okay, that was a really memorable New Years. We celebrated with friends in a friend's apartment outside of town. They had bought a lot of cheese, among other things, so I got to snack like someone with a normal diet. I ate so much cheese. At midnight, I drank chamomile tea, while they drank champagne, and we all watched Putin's message to the nation on a tv that was so big that he was life-sized. Then we went outside and watched people setting off fireworks, until the cold drove us back inside. We played board games, ate, and discussed life choices for the next eight hours. We also watched Russia lose a hockey game to Sweden. When it was time to go home, we went outside to our taxi to find that it was snowing. We chatted with our taxi driver from Uzbekistan on the way home. Joel and I took the metro home from our friend's apartment. We fell into bed at 10am. I slept for three hours and am now enthusiastically awaiting my lunch, while eating almonds. Everything outside is covered in snow. Happy New Year!
