I'm doing a lot better than I was in December when I was barely leaving the house and didn't have the energy to move at all. Last week (sometime, I don't remember), I tried doing sun salutations again and slightly over did it. Since I don't have a lot of strength in my upper body, my shoulders were pretty sore. I've resolved to do the shorter sequence of the two that I know. I'm going to try doing one every day this week, add one additional repetition every week, working up to five, and then start adding in the longer sequence.
I was also able to do tai chi this evening. Yay! It was less work when I only knew a few steps. I think I'm up to about step 70, so it takes about 15 minutes to do the whole thing. That isn't very long, but if I feel awful, moving around that much when I could be sitting at the computer is challenging. Also, I get confused easily, which is frustrating. I deal poorly with frustration. Part of the problem is that the reference materials for the style that I do (Chen) are confusing, since the guy who runs the school and who is in the videos moves so smoothly from one step to the next that sometimes I can't figure out exactly what he is doing. However, a friend of mine from class (an older lady who calls me "little bunny/зайчик") copied some videos for me of another guy doing the whole 84-step sequence. Tonight, trying to figure out how to get from one step to another (it is always the transitions that get me), I finally broke out these new videos, and they really help. Yeah, the guy in them is using a slightly different style than I was taught. However, I can figure out what he is doing enough so that I made it all the way up to the end of what I was taught. Yay!
This is a huge huge huge improvement over where I have been. I'm really hoping that I continue to feel well. * crosses fingers * It is nice to be able to do... well, anything.
