Shower books
Feb. 27th, 2025 05:16 pmI like to listen to Murderbot in the shower and while I'm puttering about before bed. However, I've listened to each book at least six times, and I need a bit of space so that I don't get tired of them. I found that I could listen to the Fred, the Vampire Accountant books, but not probably re-listen yet, as I'm just not interested enough yet. However, I've got a few other cozy books for the shower, and I fighting with the AI to try to get it to recommend more. The problem is that normally I like books with a bit more zip, so the AI isn't trained for shower books. The other problem is that I hate pretty much everything. There are just so many factors that are complete deal-breakers for me (precocious children, the main character as a victim who everyone is against, depressing situations, excessively tense situations, political backstabbing, no dramatic shows of depression or paranoia, etc). I can put more of the Fred, the Vampire Accountant series in there, plus I think there are a bunch of books in the Legends and Lattes series (about a former half-orc adventurer who opens a coffee shop), so if I like that one, I'll have some more options. I think there are a ton more books in the All Creatures Great and Small series, so probably those would work too. A friend of mine writes a series that would _probably_ work, since it is very found family. There aren't that many books that don't have a ton of conflict, though, that are still interesting (that don't have contrived situations and feature intelligent, competent characters). Anyway, I'm good for this month, and I'll probably be able to fill up next month, so we'll see about after that.
