A long day
Aug. 24th, 2023 09:16 pmToday, we went to visit the new house, and then, because it wasn't convenient to get the bus back to the train station, we walked back into town. Joel had thought that it took about 2 hours, but Google Maps said it would take less, and I think we did it in about 1.5 hours. Yay! It was a hot but lovely walk. However, by the time I got home, my food schedule was a bit off. I think it is that plus the heat that is making me less excited about eating. So, I had a very light dinner of mainly fruit, so I would have enough carbs to not have nightmares.
In other good news, we were able to finally turn in the paperwork for the plastic version of the transit cards that are used here. They are super easy to get if you are a citizen, but if you aren't, it is a bit more work. We were supposed to take them to a metro station to turn them in, but I'm sure you can imagine how much I was looking forward to standing in line to then have the poor person at the ticket counter have to take a bunch of time to process our paperwork while the line backs up around the block. Since we did this in the not super busy train station in Vila Franca de Xira, there was only a small line behind us. So, we will go back in two weeks to pick up our cards. Yay!
In other news, my still life painting is coming along. I think I need to make some changes to the shadows on the green grapes and paint them to be more interesting and green. I've also put the green on the mint leaves, but they need a bit more work too. The mint flowers are still unpainted. However, I can really see the painting coming together. I'm excited!
