A walk to the river
Dec. 15th, 2022 10:23 pmWhen I was little, I know that I tried to walk to the river near our house at least once, but you couldn't get very close, because there were wide areas of mud and brambles/weeds. When I lived in Benin, I tried to walk to the ocean one time when I was in Cotonou, but that took me through a shantytown. I didn't get far before it was clear that I shouldn't be there, so I turned around. Here, happily, it is possible to walk to the river, and the river is much closer to our apartment than the Neva was in St. Petersburg. Today, despite still being congested and still being unable to hear from my right ear, I walked down to the river again. It is nice to get back into my routine.
Some workers came today to begin work on the roof. They haven't fixed it, but they were up in the attic for a while, so I assume they did something. Tomorrow, I'm going to make a trip into town to make sure I can get to the immigration building without getting lost.
