Today was lovely, as usual, and Joel and I went on a nice walk down by the river to scout out the spot for the tai chi class I'll take on Saturdays. It is outside, which was kind of surprising, although it is definitely in a nice area. I also realized that this solves the issue of having to wear masks. Yay! So, I can stop fretting about that.

My legs have been fussy today (and maybe also yesterday), so I may have to take the bus to board game night. I don't want getting there to be a total slog. I might walk back, as it isn't _that_ far.

Friday, our big order from the hardware store is finally supposed to be delivered. I am so excited!!!

I made the texture paste again, and I think that it is definitely doing the job. So, I'll be using that on the hutch soon. There are a few spots that I need to sand, which I'm a bit nervous about (if I miss the texture paste, I'll be sanding paper, which would be bad), but hopefully it will all work out. Mostly, it comes out pretty smooth, even with me applying it somewhat unevenly.

I've started washing the fabric that we bought. It is so exciting to actually be able to do this. I am so excited about getting some of these things done!!! Of course, I haven't gotten to the point where I am sewing anything up yet, just finishing edges and washing. Still, it makes me feel like I am making progress.

An expats' Facebook group that I'm in was full of freak out today, because there are Portuguese people who blame Americans for the increase in the cost of living in Portugal, and one of them wrote an article about it in Medium. Yes, Americans are moving here. So are many others. There are plenty of other potential reasons for cost of living increases, like the terrible inflation all across Europe. However, as much as I want to point out that not all Americans are rich or arrogant or whatever was upsetting the writer of the article, it doesn't matter. Having been through this in NYC and then in Eugene, I can say that rents are indeed too high in some places, but blaming people who move there doesn't really solve the problem. I'm guessing that the government would have to do something if this problem was going to be solved. People are often more comfortable with blame than they are with the realities of economics and changing laws. * shrug * I think it can potentially be overwhelming too when your country becomes the next big thing and suddenly there are a bunch more immigrants (especially when combined with a war in Eastern Europe, which has refugees fleeing west too).
