Well, maybe progress
Nov. 15th, 2021 05:04 pmI think I _may_ have figured out the problem. Well, part of the problem. There was the "taking magnesium problem" that I resolved by no longer taking magnesium. Then there was the "OMG I'm too anxious to function!!!!! problem" that was resolved by decreasing my vitamin D from 3000iu to 2000iu. Now, we're back to the "I can't walk and my knees are buckling" problem again, which seemed to have been resolved by more vitamin D. I tried increasing the vitamin D to 2400iu, but that was still too much, and even 2000iu at once was freaking me out. So, I've gone to 1000iu twice a day. Since that worked today, I might try 2400iu in three doses. (I'm looking forward to living somewhere more sunny, since this is not ideal.)
Anyway, when my knees buckle, it feels in my head like a hydraulics problem, and then I wondered, "What if this _is_ a hydraulics problem?" My blood pressure has been kind of low (95/56 yesterday and more or less the same today). Of course, I can't show this to a doctor, because when I'm at the doctor's office, my blood pressure is 138/xx, because anxiety. Anyway, yesterday, I tried taking my blood pressure right before I went on a walk, and it was up to about 103/xx. I then drank some extra water, went on my walk, and it was okay. Today, I drank _two_ extra cups of water (All my meals are soup or otherwise full of liquid, so I doubt there is a chance I'm not drinking enough water. Also, at the end of the night last night, my blood pressure was 102/xx, so my impression is that this means that I'm not keeping the water in my body, not that I'm not drinking enough.) and while I had some knee buckling, I was able to get to the store and back.
I'm wondering if an antidiuretic, like valerian, might be helpful here. I bet my psychologist has some thoughts on valerian, so I'll talk to her before I make any changes. For now, I'll just load myself up with enough water to get out of the house for an hour on my daily walk.
