Bad news, good news, bad news, good news
May. 11th, 2018 07:05 pmIt has been tough dealing with trying to find a new psychologist. After emailing every acceptable doctor in Maryland, only one was interested in/able to work with me. We are still trying to see about the residency issue.
However, even though there were fewer doctors in New Jersey who fit my requirements, a much greater percentage of them responded to my email and seem able/willing to work with me, although we haven't gotten to the bottom of their questions about insurance, etc, which seems to weed most of them out. Also, I found a psychologist (who didn't immediately say no) who does qEEGs. While it isn't a fMRI, it might show that something is wrong with me. That would be very nice indeed. I would love if my health problems were less subjective, and I could just point to a test and say, "This is broken. If it is still like this, then it is still broken." In other good news, Joel found that Vermont, Wisconsin, Montana, and Florida all have more lax rules about where I can live and get therapy. So, if the NJ batch doesn't work out, I've got some more options.
In kind of bad news, it looks like we may owe taxes in Russia on our income from the rental house in Oregon. Joel read through some international treaties but isn't sure one way or another. So, we'll need a Russian tax lawyer. Whee! Also, we didn't get our tax id numbers when we were supposed to, because I couldn't read the paper we were given that covered this (and also it was improperly labeled). I asked our teacher, and she said it didn't apply to us. By the time I could read it, it was too late (and it may apply to us but may not). So, if it turns out that we owe money, then it could be more than a few bucks and could involve more than one lawyer.
That being said, I have been worrying about this tax id number thing for the last year and a half. If we find out one way or the other, then I can stop worrying. You know what I don't need? More worrying. So, I'm really looking forward to that being resolved. Also, if we need an immigration lawyer to deal with getting the tax id number, then it will give us a chance to test out a different immigration lawyer company (the last ones weren't punctual). Since I have also been worrying constantly about the next step in getting residency, having a lawyer who shows up on time and does their job would make that much less stressful too. It is possible to get help with paperwork directly through the immigration service, but honestly I want someone to hand hold me through it (and I'm willing to pay for that).
I'm getting the things done that need to be done, but it is really taking a toll on me (I cry often, which is absolutely unlike me, plus I'm not getting anything done except for Minecraft building). All this new information, though, looks like resolution on several fronts. While we'll have some more stuff that needs to be done before I get that resolution, nonetheless, it looks promising. *crosses fingers*
