The moldy spots on the ceiling have been cleaned and painted. I have no idea if the mold will go away or if it will come right back. We'll see! At least, the worst has been dealt with. In other news, writing is going well, as is sewing. I am totally anxious about the trip, but I'm managing to kind of keep it under control.

You may want to consider getting a hygrometer for your apartment to monitor the situation. It’s something you can pick up from a local hardware store, or Amazon. Usually can be found for less than $10.

Ideally you’ll want to see the humidity less than 60% — higher and mold can start to grow. This could help give you a level of assurance that the repair was properly done.

Thank you! Our dehumidifier, which we run constantly, shows the level of humidity in the apartment, which is usually about 52%. I didn't know that 60% is the level at which mold forms, though. That's interesting! Once it gets warmer out, we'll go back to having our windows open all the time, which will help with the mold for at least a while.

That’s pretty much ideal, keeping between 30–50%. 👍

I thought we had gotten it down to below 40%, but it turned out that the screen on the back just needed to be vacuumed. This is apparently a known problem in Portugal. Everyone seems to have a dehumidifier.
